GP Management

A combination of topical steroids and antifungal agents is generally the most effective.

Topical Steroids

• Hydrocortisone to the face and flexures
• Class III steroids to the sternum and scalp

Antifungal Agents (alone or in combination with topical steroids)

• Nizoral cream – Daktacort, Canesten HC

Shampoos

• Especially those containing tar or antifungal agents eg Capasal or Nizoral

Refer if problems with diagnosis or management in primary care.
